Marcus Manilus precipitated off the Capitole
130 x 195 cm. 1999, Oil on Canvas

This variation on the fall of the angel stages with voluptuousness all artifices of the most lyrical baroque: dramatic gestures, soaring architectures, theatrical lighting with contradictory sources, twilight skies, sinusoidal movements and constructions, Venetian chromatics, anxiety and horror of the vacuum (all these elements reflecting my mental state). I remember the definition of the baroque according to Eugenio d' Ors, "The permanent ocean of the anxious conscience".
