The
challenge was to avoid the problem of ambiguity (which we note
in the workshop of Courbet) and to juxtapose a true atmospheric
sky (painted by me) with a sky painted in the XVIIth century (repainted
by me) and to combine all that in a pompous quote of the Golden
Age where the twilight nostalgia of the act of painting takes
a metaphorical stance. |
